Savvy Web Wrap #4

The 5 steps of living savvy are: Ask, Do, Discover, Commit & Celebrate. The Savvy Web Wrap is definitely part of the Discover step – I love connecting with information that shines a light on how we live and what’s important to us, looking into the experience of others and gaining a deeper insight into my own life. Here’s what caught my eye (and mind!) recently…

Questions, questions, questions…

I'm loving galadarling's curious tuesday posts where she asks a bunch of different questions and invites us to answer in the comments – thereby feeding her curiosity lust, peering into each other's minds, and possibly learning something surprising about ourselves.

It's such a great opportunity to connect with others and their stories, to play and not take things too seriously (which is a great way to learn), and to discover different perspectives and ways of living that maybe help us grow in our own life (and maybe just give us a giggle).

It's all about reflection, which is, as you know, my number one key to living savvy.

We must become ignorant of what we have been taught / and be instead bewildered…

That's a line from the Rumi quote that Sarah Wilson was reflecting on a few weeks back (check her post for the full quote and her thoughts).

I've been exploring the issue of bewilderment with a wise woman who helps me to go deeper in my understanding of who I am and who I am wishing to become.

I like this idea of being bewildered. For me, it's about taking that quality of 'wondering' or having a 'sense of wonder' and pushing it a step further. I can 'wonder' about the world from the safety of what I know and where I feel comfortable. Or I can push myself out into that place of more active bewilderment where I feel mixed-up and confused.

When I go out to these places (and it is probably more than some but not as often as others) I stretch my assumptions and beliefs. And (as happens when I stretch muscles during a physical workout) this stretching can hurt, but it ultimately increases strength and flexibility.

First leaping, then hard work

This feisty, to-the-point article from Danielle LaPorte on Confidence vs. Blind Faith aligned beautifully with my experience of starting Living Savvy.

Confidence was not with me at the beginning – or, more accurately, confidence was calling to me from the bottom of a deep hole while fears and doubts were screaming in my face. What got me started was blind faith – here's how I described it:

I wondered how it would feel to be the confident, visionary person everyone else saw me as, and I made a decision to try it out… And when the Living Savvy launch day arrived, and everyone was asking if I was nervous, I was surprised to realise that my answer was “no”. I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be — and I was there as my true self. It was a powerful moment.

By that moment I'd earned my confidence.

So, what seems to have caught my attention this week is strong, insightful women who are willing to 'throw open the door' and see what comes of questioning, to push out to the boundaries of what's already know, and to leap into the cold, clear air and trust you can work out the rest. Savvy to the extreme!

Over to you – do any of these posts inspire you to stop and reflect? Share your thoughts, or any other interesting online savvy that has caught your attention lately, in the comments…
