Real women living savvy: Sarah Wilson

We take time out with TV personality, journalist, and face of Foxtel’s new channel Lifestyle You, Sarah Wilson to find out what makes her tick, how she is living savvy and what she believes in.

In life I celebrate

The way things flow even when I’m not trying. In fact, they flow even better when I STOP trying. I whoop every time I see this in action!!

What ordinary things do you do in life that makes you feel extraordinary?

I meditate twice a day. It gets me solid and grounded, yet elevated. It’s changed the way I talk, act and look. As my meditation teacher says, just meditate.

Share your tips for fine tuning your life

I take Thursdays off to simply be self-aware. I read spiritual books, go for gentle, mindful walks, or simply exit the house with no plans and see what happens next. It took a while for me to set my life up this way, but it’s (kinda) working now. I also (try) to limit how often I check email. I use an auto-reply to let people know when I’m not checking. This creates parameters.

I acknowledge myself for

Being engaged in the marvel of life and for being tenacious. At times I’ve been derided for this. But I’ve come to be proud of it.

What is missing in your life?

At times I think I could do with more structure…I feel like I’m surging down a river sometimes. And I’d like to just stop and make sure I’m flowing with the right river. I don’t know if such an opportunity exists!? And more intimacy. To be honest, I can often put it on the back burner when I’ve got lots on.

Three words to describe the life you have created / live?

Multi-layered, meaningful, a-bit-too-frenetic-at-times.

What is important to you in life?

Having space…around me and within me…to feel and breathe and view things with perspective.

What is next on your agenda?

I think I might write a book. And move to live on a hill.

What do you aspire to achieve or experience?

Flow and space and that feeling you get when you go over a dip in the road and you’re suspended for a moment.

I stand on my soapbox for

Any movement that pushes minimalism. I can’t stand waste, from an eco-perspective and a philosophical and emotional basis.

The best lesson I have learned in life is

Life keeps moving forward.

I am going to stop

Saying I have to stop x, y and z. Stopping isn’t the answer. Shifting gradually is.
