  • When you are Living Savvy you celebrate your own extraordinary goals and achievements and don’t let them be dimished by the achievements of others.

I heard an Australian triathlete interviewed after winning silver at an Olympics. The reporter asked are you disappointed? Her response “no way, I just won a silver medal”. I loved it – so savvy!!

Saying that, you can learn from others who have walked further down the path that you are travelling.
There are times when I check my progress and achievements against others, do I call that comparing, no I see it has more checking in. When I do that I ask questions like what have they done that I can learn from? What has their success cost them? Do I want to pay that price? What do I need to do more of or less of?

  • Sometimes it’s really hard to accept myself where I am, and to stop comparing myself with others. I need to remind myself sometimes that most of these wonderful, funky, savvy women I’ve met in the last two years are similar ages to my children, and that my goals for Perfect Pages are very different from theirs … and that’s OK!
And I need to remind myself that I am a very good editor, and that one day soon, a lot of other people are going to recognise that and will want me to help them sharpen their writing.
I need to find the words to encapsulate what my ‘sectret’ goal is.
