Champagne Friday #4

Photo of champange glassesA weekly tradition where we pop the cork on the week that was, celebrate what worked, reflect on what didn't, and look forward to a sparkling new week of possibility. I hope you'll join me and share your reflections in the comments.

What do I acknowledge from my week?

Practicing being present 'in the moment'.  I know this can sound clichéd, but it is such a powerful thing to actually do. I have been trying to concentrate and focus on the task that is in front of me, and noticing when my attention is diverted (often because I start thinking about all the other tasks still to be done). Staying present with what I am doing right now is a huge effort for me!

What do I celebrate from my week?

It has been a tremendous week for the Living Savvy project with great conversations, positive feedback and constructive criticism. I am celebrating every step forward.

What was missing from my week?

Quality time (in fact, any time!) with my partner in life, Andrew.

What small change can I make to have more of that next week?

Take advantage of the moments we do have together – greet and farewell each other with full attention, sit together as we work on different tasks, acknowledge each other with a touch when we pass in the hall or on the way out the door.

I'd love you to share your Champagne Friday responses in the comments…

Thank you for sharing Paula. The wonderful acknowledgement of embracing the concept that work will always be there – I find it is like washing just when you get to the bottom of the laundry basket you turn around and something else is waiting. There is a genuine strength in knowing when to close your eyes, walk away and say I am done for the moment…

What do I acknowledge from my week? The best laid plans don’t always work and you have to be flexible to meet the needs you’re faced with on any given day. The re-prioritisation has been a big one for my week, but it’s helped me achieve the important and non-negotiable tasks to keep things flowing. I have truly embraced the concept that there will never be a time, day, week or month in my working year where all the work is completed – now there’s an ‘aha moment’ for you!

What do I celebrate from my week? As a result of being open and honest about my own battle with depression, a colleague sought me out and reached out for her own assistance – this was humbling and empowering for us both.

What was missing from my week? Healthy eating and exercise!!!!

What small change can I make to have more of that next week? Choose to eat what my body needs (I don’t think it needs Tim Tams and Mint Slice) and get physical in whatever way possible every day.
