A weekly tradition where we pop the cork on the week that was, celebrate what worked, reflect on what didn’t, and look forward to a sparkling new week of possibility. I hope you’ll join me and share your reflections in the comments.
What am I celebrating?
This week I'm celebrating the ordinary things that bring extraordinary into my life. I'm celebrating…
- that my #spill (from my bike) only resulted in some grazes & jarring – no broken bones this time.
- the kindness and caring of the women who expressed their concern as I took my bike #spill in front of them
- that I live in a country that can have a #spill bringing a change of PM with only tears falling and strong opinions being thrown (no bullets, no violence, no lives lost)
- a morning bike ride in the sunshine following an evening rain shower – it reminds me of childhood holidays spent at Byron Bay
- that my children don’t care what time it is, or that we need to get out the door, and will instead stop everything to show me something they think is really funny and manage to make me smile and join in their giggles.
For the non-tweeters, #spill was the hash tag given to all comments around the change of leadership of the Australian Labor party and the Government.
What am I acknowledging?
Last week I shared this post from Melanie about stopping right at the point where you know you can do more – I'm acknowledging my efforts to stop while I knew I still had something to give this week:
- I went away for the weekend and left my computer at home.
- I returned home on Monday and turned my computer on briefly before closing up and relaxing in the evening.
- I stopped work before each night with more to do and more to give and curled up on the couch with a cup of tea and one of my favourite shows and realised that when I went off to bed my head had stopped hurting.
What was missing?
A feeling of lightness of spirit.
A sense of certainty and self-belief.
Solitude.
What small change can I make for next week?
This week I am going to keep following Melanie’s advice and stop with something still left in my tank.
Make this my mantra for the week – Dream big / Play big. This was a lesson shared by Naomi Simson:
“If you want to create something big – play a big game, make the investment needed. Big dreams – take big decisions, and resources.”
Ready to pop the cork with me? I’d love to hear about your week in the comments…
