Champagne Friday #19

Photo of champange glassesA weekly tradition where we pop the cork on the week that was, celebrate what worked, reflect on what didn’t, and look forward to a sparkling new week of possibility. I hope you’ll join me and share your reflections in the comments.

What am I celebrating?

#blessingsindisguise (to quote a tweet by Rebecca Leigh, Living Savvy’s editor).

A problem on the Living Savvy website meant that nothing was working correctly except the home page.  Rebecca got fiddling and fixed the problem, in the process apparently fixing another problem was preventing the final tweaking of the new look site.  There was cheering and smiles all round as now we can get back to our regular scheduling of savvy posts for you to  enjoy!

What am I acknowledging?

Launching a big project like Living Savvy can be described as exciting, exhilarating and at times overwhelming.

This week I found myself weighed down by the enormity of my dreams, aspirations and yes, expectations.  This week I celebrate how I moved through this feeling and desire to dive into bed with the remote control, not move and most definitely not turn on a computer.  I rested, gave myself time to think, revisited my vision and purpose for living savvy (although this never gets away from me) and reminded myself to focus on the immediate steps in front of me, knowing that doing this will move me closer to realising my vision .

What was missing?

A novel. Last week I wanted to create some more time for reading fiction for pure escapism.  I visited the library and have a novel from an author that I enjoy – now to get into bed earlier for a moment or two of downtime reading before lights off.

What small change can I make for next week?

My parents are visiting next week to look after the children while I get out and about for the weekend (Sex in the City 2 on Friday & High Tea Party on Sunday) and their father escapes for a well deserved boys camping weekend on the beach.  I  usually use my parents visits to work more or do more.  This time I will spend more time just “being with them.

Ready to pop the cork with me? I’d love to hear about your week in the comments…

  • Christine, we can over indulge on the good stuff too and we need a break. Taking a break from your dream sounds like what you need right now.  Realising a dream takes time so ensuring that there is enough fuel in the tank to get there is important.  You are fueling up this week.  Thank you for sharing the contact details of the resource.

  • Jo I am celebrating that you share so openly with us about your journey with Living Savvy and reminding us how that from time to time reaching our dreams can be overwhelming and that when we reach this point it is good take time out and reflect on our vision and its purpose.   It's amazing how often you share about something going on in your life that I find I am experiencing the same thing.  So I celebrate that someone has reminded me that what I am feeling is normal.
Energy was missing for me this week so I began to reflect on what I was choosing to allow into my thinking and emotions that was draining my energy.  In doing this I came across a really helpful e-book on Resilience by Michael Licenblat – 7 Ways to prevent yourself becoming stressed-out, overworked and rundown.  His words hit the spot for me and it didn't take me long to realise that I was working as if I was "unbreakable."   It's a free download if any one is interested.   http://www.BounceBackFast.com/ebooks.html
This week I have decided I will put aside my work towards my dreams and to have a total rest from thinking about it and tyring to get it all done by yesterday.  That way I am sure my vision and energy will be rekindled and be in a more holistic place.
