Champagne Friday #13

Photo of champange glassesA weekly tradition where we pop the cork on the week that was, celebrate what worked, reflect on what didn’t, and look forward to a sparkling new week of possibility. I hope you’ll join me and share your reflections in the comments.

What am I celebrating?

Making the most of moments to connect with family when I had short visit to my “home town” this week. Yes, I am humming Bruce Springsteen as I write this. There was afternoon tea with mother, niece and stepfather; dinner with cousin, aunty and uncle; morning tea with dad; afternoon drop-in to see brother; and dinner with stepmother and sister. I also managed a run or two, a walk along on the beach, shopping and  restful sleep.

What am I acknowledging?

The efforts of my brother & sister-in-law as they overhaul their home in between working and looking after 4 kids aged 4 – 15 and 36 animals.  I dropped in to check out their renovations (last seen at the beginning of December).  These are two people who have asked themselves the question “What am I creating?” and have made their dreams happen in the home, family and lifestyle they are creating together.

What was missing?

My to-do list (left it at home with my diary).  I spent only a few moments on the computer as I enjoyed the time away from the “home / office”. I let my thoughts run this week and they were very quiet… often this happens before a flood of creativity.

What small change can I make to have more of that next week?

Use the short but effective rest and break away to return to my to-do list and tackle a big project that I have only started with focus and enthusiasm.

Ready to pop the cork with me? I’d love to hear about your week in the comments…
