I know it. You know it. We really don’t like to ask for help.

This week I’ve gathered a few thoughts from some savvy ladies on why we don’t ask for help, what not asking for help costs us, and how asking for help can actually be an amazing act of generosity.

Surprise package: Layne Beachley

lanebeachley

When I was recently invited to a business breakfast featuring Layne Beachley as the guest speaker, I didn’t jump at the chance. What are you reading?

mariashriver

This slim volume is about Maria Shriver’s awakening to what I would call living savvy. She reflects on the first 50 odd years of her life spent chasing big achievements and fulfilling other’s expectations… She realised, “I was always scrambling to live up to the myth, always worried others would think I wasn’t fulfilling my role… But we’re entitled to our own lives, our own dreams and goals, our own legacies.”

In search of a good story

reading

I’ve always loved a good story. But what qualifies as ‘good’? For me, just about anything that shines a light on how we live, why we do the things we do, and what’s important to us.
